Journey north from Fairbanks along the Dalton Highway, one of the most remote roads in North America and a working industrial route through Alaska’s far north, to the Arctic Circle.

You’ll spend the day moving deeper into Alaska’s Interior as forest, river valleys, pipeline views, and open northern landscapes unfold along the route. We make several scenic stops for photos, fresh air, and short walks throughout the day, including time at the Arctic Circle sign at 66°33′N.

Your guide shares ongoing commentary on the Dalton Highway, Trans-Alaska Pipeline, boreal forest, permafrost, wildlife habitat, and life in Alaska’s Interior.

Groups are limited to 7 guests in a comfortable 11-passenger van, with guaranteed window seats, an unhurried pace, regular breaks, and flexibility, plus snacks, water, and hot drinks.

    Exclusions
      • Lunch is not included. You may order a meal at the Yukon River Camp or bring your own food. A cold cooler will be available to transport perishable food you wish to bring for lunch.
      • Appropriate clothing for arctic summer conditions (prepare for mud, mosquitos, variable weather)

        • This is a long day, typically around 12–13 hours, with several extended driving segments on remote roads. Departure is in the morning, with return to Fairbanks in the evening.
        • This tour travels north from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle along the Dalton Highway, a remote working road used by industrial traffic. The route includes paved highway, gravel sections, construction zones, limited services, and variable road conditions.
        • Expect bumps, dust, vibration, and long stretches without services. This is part of the Dalton Highway experience, but guests should be comfortable with a full day of remote road travel.
        • Most travelers can participate, but this tour is not recommended for guests with health conditions that may be aggravated by long periods of sitting, bumps, vibration, limited services, or distance from immediate medical care.
        • Guests must be able to step in and out of a van with limited assistance and walk short distances on uneven ground, including gravel pullouts, roadside paths, and scenic stops.
        • This is primarily a road-based sightseeing experience with short, easy walks. It is not a hiking tour.
        • Minimum age is 15 on regular departures. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
        • Wildlife may be seen along the route, but sightings are not guaranteed.
        • This tour travels to the Arctic Circle and returns to Fairbanks the same day. It does not continue north to the Arctic Ocean.
        • Weather, wildfire smoke, road construction, industrial traffic, and changing road conditions may affect timing, visibility, and stop locations.
        • Tours may be cancelled or rescheduled if road or weather conditions are unsafe. If this happens, guests will be offered another date if available or a full refund.
        What to bring
          • Comfortable, layered clothing suitable for changing Interior Alaska weather
          • A windproof or water-resistant outer layer, as conditions can change quickly
          • Comfortable closed-toe shoes suitable for gravel, mud, and uneven ground
          • Hat, sunglasses for long summer daylight
          • Insect repellent and/or a bug net, especially during peak mosquito season
          • Lunch or food for the day, as services are limited along the route
          • Any personal medications or essential items you may need during a long remote day trip
